On this newsdisk I have changed the text display program (Ty), and the
newsletter formatting to allow the text files to be in a printer ready
format.
The Newsletter, for instance, is a capture of what the wordprocessor sends
to the printer device. It contains ANSI escape sequences to set bold,
underline etc for headings etc. These ANSI sequences are device independant
that is, they are not specific to any particular type of printer. The
printer device driver converts these sequences to codes specific to your
printer (as specified in Preferences). You may have to change your printer
margins (in Preferences) to allow for the width of the lines (about 75
characters), margins of 5 and 80 respectively should work ok.
So the upshot of all that is that you can print the text files on your
printer (eg copy xyz to prt:) and you will get something like the original,
instead of geting the peculiar characters I formerly used.
The Ty program still supports the old command sequences, and as it's
derived from the 'less' program it also supports the 'nroff' style printer
ready files (containing backspaces etc to do over typing and underlining).
